Visit the Museum Batavialand, where you can see a replica of the VOC ship Batavia, learn about traditional crafts at the shipyard, and learn about the history of Flevoland in the exhibition spaces. Walk on the deck of a full-scale replica of a 17th-century VOC ship and see how people lived and worked onboard. See the 4,000 square meters of exhibition space, and learn about Flevoland’s history from the prehistoric Swifterbant culture to modern land reclamation. The exhibits also include an 18th-century shipwreck, the 60-meter-long Flevowand, and the Watertheater. Next, go to the shipyard, watch craftsmen demonstrate 17th-century techniques in forging, wood carving, and sail making. They are also building a replica of a 16th-century water ship using traditional methods.
