Explore a former Civil War hospital where Walt Whitman once cared for soldiers. Since 1829, this building has hosted art exhibits and is now a full-time museum. Discover the National Portrait Gallery, featuring portraits of influential Americans, including presidents, first ladies, and Civil War heroes like Grant and Sherman. See 19th-century daguerreotypes and early photographs of the Robber Barons and Suffragettes.
